That time again

A test painting I'm doing to explore an idea I had a while back.  This is the initial drawing, I'll post more as I go to document the process.  Going for a bronze metal type look on this, maybe even a series of these masks and coat of arms with human faces behind the masks. So far just vine charcoal on a cheap canvas board.

Have gotten real bad about updating this thing again, this month hasn't been my best month as far as keeping up with the internet popularity game.

Here's a morning study I did a week or two ago that I never got around to uploading on here.  Can't remember if this was a 30min or an hour study.  Photoshop cs4.

Alchemy studies

   Some of the shapes I've been creating in Alchemy.  Love this program.  I've had it for a while, messed around with it a few months back but I kinda got sidetracked with other interests, mainly wanting to getting back into traditional work.  Now getting back to digital and trying to even the two out a little better.  Alchemy is great for making some what random also intentional shapes that help ideas rolling with shapes that are a little more suggestive rather than defined.  I'll post more later.

1 hour study

Gah!?!

I've been falling off my routine with all the events and family stuff that's been going on between BRAF and last months First Friday art shows.  Going to be getting back into the habit of doing morning exercises, mainly portraiture for the fun of it, but as well as trying to push myself to do more environment sketches which I haven't done in months sorry to admit. Mostly going to be digital work again here soon, with some larger traditional pieces using acrylics and oils. Like the one below these studies shouldn't be any longer than 30mins, and hoping I can start to get more done in that time table, getting my speed painting back up to snuff.  Be good.

Wheeler open House Spring 2010

Finished.  Come out tonight or tomorrow for the Wheeler Open house.  My buddy Ryan Burosh is having his senior showing as well as to see this painting that was a collaborative piece from Megan Zoeller and I.
