morning studies

2hrs

I'm working on my portraiture, likeness, and color in these studies.  No use of a color picker and the undo/redo is another point I'm trying to get my mind used to while working digitally anymore.  These things are nice to have and speed up any process but can also hinder growth and skill development if relied on too much.

The first 2 portraits I'm not really happy with, as well they took the longest.  The last I'm happiest with, only taking max 30mins.  The problems I see in the 3rd are not as much red and orange on the right side ( our left) to suggest what seems to be reflected light while the whiter lighter on the left ( our right) has a little more blue tint to it across some of the wrap.  All could use work on shapes and gesture, and smiles are a giant pain in the ass, but fun and challenging to paint.

W.I.P. Ghost slums

A w.i.p. of a city scape

Going to be re-posting this on a lot the next few days as I test it out on my phone and other screens to check the values and a few other things.  Will make a new post once it's finish.

Biplane and Sci-fi environment

Still working on these a bit more, but they're mostly finished.  The biplane is looking a little flat and I need to do a little more with the man made structures in the background of the sci-fi environment and some minor details to pull it all together.

2013 Port almost finished

This is a much older image I'm revisiting to spruce it up a bit.  Will be adding more details.

These are some of the concepts I'm adding to my 2013 portfolio.  All fairly close to being finished, should be done and have them added to the website by Tuesday if it all works out.

Some quick sils

Promise I'm not a gun nut.  They are however, very fun to design/draw.

Final

There's some definite "Ghost in the Shell" influence here, although I was thinking they could be a little more agile and useful than just type faster.   I imagine the fingers extending to ridiculous lengths reaching in between small areas of machinery, engines, ect. and making repairs that would normally require hours to reach through deconstruction.

This has been fun

While working on a few other concepts I keep going back to this one to give my brain a rest.  It's been a lot of fun trying to get as much detail as possible into this using a lot of reference and trips to wikipedia.  Although, I'm sure for anyone in the military it would be easy for them to spot my mistakes and mash up of details.  Should be done with this and all the others here in a week, although I've been more focused on getting quality out of my work for my portfolio rather than rush anything so we'll have to see if I make that dead line.

More updates

W.I.P. - Adding more current day and historical concepts to add more diversity.

Small update on this one.

More W.I.P.'s for the new port.

Will be adding stages for the helm opening up as well as some nifty stuff with the arm.  It's a space engineer after all, so there will be all types of little tools, small grips and pliers to help get the jobs done that a space engineer has to do.

These guys are almost done too.

Updates on new additions to 2013 portfolio

These two are finished for the most part, just awaiting some final touches and details to make them looks more professional.

These three are works in progress that I'll be adding to the new port when they're done. More to come as I'm updating my portfolio for the new year.
