I'd wear this Darth Vader helm to bed if I owned it.

I'm not kidding either.  I've already expressed to a few people that I would, and if they thought I was joking then you don't know me well enough.  I could see rocking this out in a smoking jacket, boxers and a pair of socks.  I'd include a tobacco pipe but then I would just have to take the helmet off to puff on it.

Here's some stuff.

More of the door

Pretty stoked about this one.  Will keep updating as we get closer to the end of it.

Holiday park and a squirrel.

Haven't been to Holiday park in years so me and Jeff went today.  Was a good time, got some good reference photos and was some decent exercise.  Kinda sucks when you see what was flowing out of a drainage pipe into the river, but hey at least the drainage pipe resembled the shape of Felix the cat so that's a plus.

as promised

Start of a new painting.

Some Mucha studies

All work and no play makes for a bummer when you then immediately get an axe to the chest after finishing.

Just watched the Shinning on amc.  Why do they gotta shit on the cook.  All I'm saying is either Kubrick or King really hated that character. This dude had to make a 10 or 20 something hour trip through a serious shit storm of winter only to then get an axe to his chest cavity causing what looks to be a crater in the middle of his sternum.  This really sucks for him obviously cause the look on his face says this hurts. I mean at least he brought the tractor for the boy and his mother to get away, and was a momentary distraction while Jack was going nuts, but maybe he coulda got at least one harsh word in or something before getting let go.

Been getting stuff done, got some sketches for more paintings, started 2 new paintings, and more progress on the collaborative piece with Megan.  Forgot pictures on that one, and I'm to lazy to take other pics this late, so I'll update in the morning.

Wheeler open house May 2010

Here's the collaborative piece I'm working on with Megan for the open house at the beginning of next month.  Going great, really enjoying working with someone else, learning a lot as I go.  Also got some sketches scanned in finally, and been busy on the Mercury Tree painting, but I'll post pics of that later. Till then cheers!

Moving right along

This is the first of the drawings I was working on today, having a bit of fun with motifs again.

Doin the rounds.

Have the next 3 days off from work due to over lapping sick days, gotta use'em before my annual review and I lose em forever!  So today and the next few days I'm calling around to tattoo shops bringing my work around, trying my best to get some out there.  Contacted Modified, Coil 12, and Skinquake so far.  Going into coil 12 today to meet the guys, although it doesn't sound like they got much room to put stuff up but should be good to get a dialogue going.  Gonna drop by Skinquake in Greenwood on Sat, and I haven't herd anything back from Modified yet.  Keepin my fingers crossed, hoping I can at least meet a few new people and possibly see what they'd like to see in their studios if what I got isn't their bag.  The line work on the salt tree is still drying, should be ready for the final glaze by tomorrow.  No wammies no wammies no wammies.

Gotta get my scanner fixed!

Too many sketches piling up.  Here's a drawing I started.

Pretty much done

Going to add a final layer of galkyd and this will be done.  Added line work and some darker areas to the background and edges.  I'll post when it's all finished but really will look the same with the exception of seeing it in person for the glaze.  Really dislike how washed out all these pictures have been but I guess getting quality photos done for the website is what I'm gonna have to do, cause these pics just don't cut it.

As the day progressed.

Here's what I got done on the painting with some oil color all mixed with galkyd for a quick dry glossy look.  Trying to decide if I want to do one final burnt umber wash to pull all the color again and then do a little less on the vibrant color on the  flower so that the really saturated  color stands out that much more but isn't to over powering.  Right now it feels a little to bright, I dunno, I'll have to give my eyes a rest on this for the night then decide.

Awesome day

Few people have told me the pictures of this on the blog don't compare well in person color wise.  It's definitely washed out, and the darks are not nearly as dark. I'm an amateur with photography at best.  I'll try and have my brother or some one do a better shot when it's all done.

The 3 gessoed boards drying, 3rd coat maybe?
